Electric Adjustable Bed

Do you have trouble lying down when you go to sleep?  Do you feel like there is pressure on parts of your body, instead of being comfortable?  Do you feel like your bed is the wrong shape?  Many people feel this way and this is mainly because the body is made of many shapes and curves, whereas a bed is generally a flat surface.  You may be much more comfortable sleeping in a very different position, feeling far more supported and comfortable, and hence having a much better night sleep.  There are many old wives tales going around about harder beds being better for you, but the British Sleep Council has stated that what it really important is having the support your individual spine needs.

What About an Electric Adjustable Bed?

An electric adjustable bed could be a great solution for those people who generally use cushions to help get them comfortable in bed.  An electric adjustable bed can be shaped by moving both the bottom and top half, fitting in the way that is most comfortable for you.  You can go so far as to change your electric adjustable bed into a full v shape, or perhaps you only want to elevate your head or your feet.

Some of the specific benefits of electric adjustable beds that make them suitable for almost everybody include:

  • Remote controls, so you don’t have to try and find buttons to adjust the settings of your bed.
  • Memory settings, meaning that the bed will in essence remember what position you preferred and will be able to return to that position from memory.
  • Electric adjustable beds are able to carry very heavy weights, making them very suitable for obese people, who often have issues with getting in and out of bed and properly circulating blood through their bodies.

Electric Adjustable Bed Mattress

The mattress on an electric adjustable bed is generally made out of visco-elastic memory foam, which is specifically designed to be able to fold into the desired shape, but bounce back into a straight mattress after you use it.

Electric Adjustable Bed Frames

The frames of electric adjustable beds used to be metal and metal only – this is mainly because they were only used in hospitals, where costs need to be kept down and interior design was not of the greatest concern.  However, more and more people started using electric adjustable beds in their homes and wanted to have beds that fitted with the rest of their décor.  Frames are available in a range of finishes, including laminate beech and laminated oak, to name but a few.  Of course, the main issue is not design but safety.

There are many companies in the United Kingdom that are involved in the production and distribution of an electric adjustable bed.  Some of these focus specifically on the market of people who have injuries or illnesses, others are regular bed centres who have recognised that electrical adjustable beds are incredibly comfortable and many people prefer these types of beds rather than a range of pillows.
